このたび、村田茂樹先生の「村田茂樹が見つめたもの ―写生― 」展を開催するにあたりアトリエにある製図用10段のスティールケース２つ分、約2000点に及ぶ写生などを拝見しました。
風景、花、静物、人物、等々・・・
亡くなるまでの５０数年の足跡を一枚一枚に顧みることができました。懐かしいさや驚きの連続で時間を忘れ見入りました。
１日では到底見ることが出来ず、2日かかりました。
そこには対象物に委ね、謙虚に見つめる清潔感や緊張感に溢れていて、日本画の写生においてこれほど余白を際立たせるものは少ないように思います。
先生がご存命なら出来なかったであろう、この展覧会をご覧いただけたら嬉しく思います。

At the time of holding the exhibition "What Shigeki Murata Gazes at-Sketches-" by Professor Shigeki Murata, I saw about 2000 sketches for two 10-stage steel cases for drafting in the atelier.
Landscapes, flowers, still lifes, people, etc ...
I was able to look back on each and every one of the footsteps of his 50-odd years before his death. I forgot the time and looked at it with a series of nostalgia and surprises.
I couldn't see it in one day, and it took two days.
There is a sense of cleanliness and tension that is left to the object and looks humbly, and I think that there are few things that make the margins stand out so much in the sketches of Japanese paintings.
I would be grateful if you could see this exhibition, which would not have been possible if the teacher was alive.
